Author’s Acknowledgements

Life as a Leaf: Growing Integrity in Children would not have happened without the encouragement and support of Pam Kuhn, Sandra Milton, and my husband, John. I would also like to thank Sandra Williams of Williams Writing, Editing & Design for her patience, understanding, and skill in clarifying what it was I was trying to say as well as for her assistance with the book cover design and for this beautiful Web site layout.

I am especially grateful to the Blue Mountain Center of Meditation for granting me permission to use portions of the Eight Point Program, originally developed by Eknath Easwaran, in a modified application.

Finally, I would like to thank my children, Kathryn, Sarah, and Ryan. Khalil Gibran wrote that our children are not our own, that they come through us but not from us, like arrows through a bow held steady to guide them to their mark. In my case, I can humbly say this has been reversed. It is my children that have steadied me, allowing me to hit a mark I could not have hit without them. I am truly blessed and honored to know them and to be able to share my life with them.
